Crowning Achievements Series- Louis Pasteur

For this installment of the Crowning Achievements Series, we highlight someone who revolutionized food safety! This man is known as the Father of Microbiology. He discovered many interesting things about the way that germs grow and how they contaminate food.

Louis Pasteur was a biologist, microbiologist, and chemist. He was born in 1822 in Dole, France. He made great advancements in vaccination, fermentation, and notably pasteurization (the process used to kill microbes in milk!) He was not a particularly great student but had the motivation to continue until he achieved a Master's Degree in Science. He later went on to be a professor!
